Iron man 3 review (spoilers inbound)

First off I wanna say this film should have been the tony stark film!

Over many days of consideration I am putting this on par with iron man 2, this film has highs and some real lows to which I shall go into.

I found the story to be not that bad but the one thing that didn't need to be included in that story was the Mandarin.  The fact that he was included in this film is stupid and totally unnecessary.  The amount of marketing that went into this film making you believe that he was the main antagonist was a waste I know they probably wanted you to think that it was a twist well you didn't pull it off in my eyes.

Another gripe that I have with this film is that Tony Stark controlling suit and him not being in them I don't have a problem with Stark not in a suit but don't control them like they are drone's seems like a cheap shot at Iron man 2  with what Whiplash was doing. In fact if you put whiplash as the bad guy in this film much better film and makes more sense as its two armies fighting.

Right some positives you can tell this was shot by a different director and I liked the style he shot it. He treats this film in a way a bit like Kiss kiss bang bang kind of like Tony Stark as a detective trying to figure out how the bombs are going off. Another positive is how Tony and Rhodes in the last act of the film play out in a buddy action cop style of film.

As the first film thats after Avengers they of course have to address that alot and one thing I liked was that he has an anxiety problem and kind of needs his suits. The fact he has made 42 mks of suits seems unrealistic in that amount of time.

The main antagonist is of course Guy Pearce who in the end is like a mutant who can regenerate and breathe fire all because he has a chemical to help the brain be complete. I should probably note he was a scientists before and Tony had managed to piss him off back In 1999 and the one best way to get back at Tony Stark is through Pepper Potts I found this was the only way they could have wrote her into this film. 

Some more details that bugged me why would u spend some much time building suits and blow them all up in the end when they have just helped and saved you??? I would say that Tony spends about 30 mins tops in his suits and at the end of the film he is in and out of different suits like you would change socks. Out of 42 suits he doesn't have 1 thats flame retardant what's up with that.

I did enjoy this film just not as much as orginal and if this is Robert Downey Jr last Iron Man film I wouldn't be proud of it.

GI Joe :Retaliation (contains a little spoiler)

so i decided to celebrate my wedding anniversary this past Sunday with a viewing of the romantic GI Joe : Retaliation , having seen the 2009 G.I Joe : the rise of cobra i didn't go in to this film with high expectations .

Any film that starts Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson and Channing Tatum doesn't immediately raise expectations but I'm happy to report this film really surprised me the overall story is fairly rubbish something along the lines of the U.S president has been taken hostage and using some fancy future tech Zartan disguises him self as the U.S president and plans to get all the nukes in the world by tricking the world leaders into handing over there's (North Korea are very funny in one scene).

Another stand out point in the film is the fantastic mountain side fight scenes with snake eyes , Jinx and lots of angry Ninja's the CGI work on these scenes is top notch

I wont spoil any more but i do highly recommend everyone go see this , switch off your brain , sit back in your chair and enjoy

Mad max trilogy

3 films enter 1 film leaves.

So I thought as a film enthusiast I should watch the mad max trilogy I did and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Mad Max

The original film was rather slow to get into I found and when it did pick up pace I was bored and when it reached the finale it just ended.In this current day of films this film would not get a sequel there is not enough character development or speech to connect with the guy just his wife's death.  I found I would have liked to have known more about why it was a post apocalyptic era, the clothes in the film was about the only thing I liked.

I would highly recommend you skip this film and go straight into number 2.

Mad Max 2

I watched this film first believe it or not and found it to be the best out of the three. With a decent generic story line of wanderer stumbles onto a band of people to whom he must protect from a group of thugs for fuel. Its a case in the future trade off's you would expect to stay alive. This film has more action the the 1st which is probably why its a better film. The art style continues in this film from the original which I do like. I feel there is more character development too.

Overall I would recommend this film to watch just remember its old and a little slow in places.

Mad Max 3: Thunderdome

This film brings us back to mad max who in the first five minutes gets robbed. Clearly he is losing his touch. He then stumbles upon a settlement and gives up his skills in killing to retrieve his possessions. He is tricked into thinking he was killing a slave driving mad man (master blaster) by a power hungry woman played by Tina Turner. Max challenges master blaster into Thunderdome where 2 men enter and one leaves. Its not a brutal fight but enough to wet the taste buds.  Max cant kill him because he minds out its an adult with the mind of a child and u find out the man behind blaster master is really a nice man who ia helping rhe settlement by supplying it power. So Tina exiles him into the dessert to die of dehydration.  This is where the film turns to me . He is rescued by children who think he is basically the messiah who will lead them back to civilisation.  To round up a long winded story its children vs adults in a clash to have the brains behind blaster master.  The children escape with him and make it to the big city where the is nothing and Tina leaves Max to die in the dessert again.

This film is better then the first but still not great it went downhill from when the kids got involved how they survived I have no idea but took me out of the film.

At least I now know what Thunderdome is and that concept along was brilliant.  Over all the trilogy is below average but number 2 can work as a standalone.  However for a better post apocalyptic film just watch Waterworld.

Time Bandits

Bored Out Of Time

This is gonna be a very short review about Time bandits

So its a classic Terry Gilliam film with wacky things going on in live action and clay modelling I guess. It a random film which tries to string everything alone with time travel. Its starts with a boy named Kevin who has a vivid imagination and meets 6 dwarfs who escape from his wardrobe. Wait that sounds like Narnia. From there he meets the likes of Napoleon, Robin Hood and some others. The dwarfs want to be thieves by stealing stuff from each era whilst on the run from god to whom they stole a map from with time holes in. God decided to create a man called evil to see how he would turn out and he wanted the map to take over the world. He lures the dwarfs to him and tries to kill, however god kills him and says he knew what was going on and was a test for evil which he didn't like. God takes them all back and kevin wakes up thinking its a dream.

I didn't like the movie and found it rather dull and boring lacking the usual humour I would be expecting from some of the cast members of Monty Python.  Its a must see for a fan of Terry Gilliam but I would not personally recommend it.

Actor and musician Bruce Willis is well known for his film appearances as wisecracking or hard-edged characters, often in spectacular action films. Collectively, he has appeared in films that have grossed in excess of $2.5 billion USD placing him in the top ten stars in terms of box office receipts. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955 in West Germany to parents living on a United States military base, and raised in Penns Grove, New Jersey. Willis picked up an interest for the dramatic arts in high school, and was allegedly "discovered" whilst working in a café in New York City and then appeared in a couple of off-Broadway productions. While bartending one night, he was seen by a casting director who liked his personality and needed a bartender for a small movie role.

After countless auditions, Willis contributed minor film appearances, usually uncredited, before landing the role of private eye "David Addison" alongside sultry Cybill Shepherd in the hit romantic comedy television series "Moonlighting" (1985). The series firmly established Bruce Willis as a hot new talent, and his sarcastic and wisecracking P.I. was in effect a dry run for the role of hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the monster hit Die Hard (1988). This superbly paced action film balanced laconic humor and wholesale destruction as Willis' character single handedly battles a gang of ruthless international thieves in a Los Angeles skyscraper. Willis reprized the role of tough guy cop "John McClane" in the eagerly anticipated sequel Die Hard 2 (1990) set at snowbound Washington's Dulles International Airport as a group of renegade Special Forces soldiers seek to repatriate a corrupt South American general. Excellent box office returns demanded a further sequel Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995) this time also starring Samuel L. Jackson as a cynical Harlem shop owner unwittingly thrust into assisting McClane during a terrorist bombing campaign on a sweltering day in NYC.

Willis found time out from all the action mayhem to provide the voice of "Mikey" the baby in the very popular family comedies Look Who's Talking (1989), and its sequel Look Who's Talking Too (1990) also starring John Travolta and Kirstie Alley. Over the next decade, Willis starred in some very successful films, some very offbeat films and some unfortunate box office flops. The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990) and Hudson Hawk (1991) were both large scale financial disasters that were savaged by the critics, and both are arguably best left off the CVs of all the actors involved, however Willis was still popular with movie audiences and selling plenty of theatre tickets with the hyperviolent The Last Boy Scout (1991), the darkly humored Death Becomes Her (1992) and the mediocre police thriller Striking Distance (1993). During the 1990s, Willis also appeared in several independent and low budget productions that won him new fans and praise from the critics for his intriguing performances working with some very diverse film directors. He appeared in the oddly appealing North (1994), as a cagey prizefighter in theQuentin Tarantino directed mega-hit Pulp Fiction (1994), the Terry Gilliam directed apocalyptic thriller Twelve Monkeys (1995), the Luc Besson directed sci-fi opus The Fifth Element (1997) and the M. Night Shyamalan directed spine-tingling epic The Sixth Sense (1999).

Willis next starred in the gangster comedy The Whole Nine Yards (2000), worked again with "hot" director M. Night Shyamalan in the less gripping Unbreakable (2000), and in two military dramas, Hart's War (2002) and Tears of the Sun (2003) that both failed to really fire with movie audiences or critics alike. However, Willis bounced back into the spotlight in the critically applauded Frank Miller graphic novel turned movie Sin City (2005), the voice of "RJ" the scheming raccoon in the animated hit Over the Hedge (2006) and "Die Hard" fans rejoiced to see "John McClane" return to the big screen in the high tech Die Hard 4.0 (2007) aka "Die Hard 4.0".

Professional flops like the sci-fi thriller Surrogates (2009) and the Kevin Smith-directed Cop Out (2010) 
were offset by another box office winner, the action-comedy "Red" (2010). Co-starring such acting luminaries as Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich, the comic book adaptation followed a group of begrudgingly retired C.I.A. operatives blissfully returning to the cloak-and-dagger world of espionage. As well as "Red" had performed in theaters, it was writer-director-star Sylvester Stallone's bloody ensemble action-adventure "The Expendables" (2010) that made fanboys giddy with anticipation over a brief scene that, for the first time ever, united Sly, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Willis on screen. The following year was relatively uneventful for the star, with the direct-to-DVD offerings "Set Up" (2011) and "Catch .44" (2011) comprising his output. One year later, he returned to screens with his biggest release slate in recent memory. Among them were such projects as idiosyncratic filmmaker Wes Anderson's coming-of-age tale "Moonrise Kingdom" (2012), the military action-figure franchise sequel "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" (2012) and the highly anticipated time-travel thriller from writer-director Rian Johnson, "Looper" (2012). As an added treat, he once more appeared alongside Schwarzenegger and Stallone in the bullet-ridden sequel "The Expendables 2" (2012), this time in a greatly expanded role as the film's primary villain.
